Suburban Oasis, San Clemente
This single story home was transformed from your average neighborhood home to an oasis near the beach. The clients had the brief of privacy and escape, frequently traveling around the world they wanted this home in Southern California to be their base, to ground them and give them the sense of home. Natural stone, different woods and the inclusion of fire and water brought the feeling of their own private oasis to life. A new master suite that opens up to their new courtyard allowed them to live as though there was no one else around.
The courtyard became the area that the spaces lived around and became the place where their friends and family would gather to spend time together. Although the home is smaller in size and single story, it has all the modern luxuries of a 20th century home, drop down movie theater in the master bedroom, pass through fireplace, large walk-in closet and integrated smart lighting controls.
